James D. Hillhouse

James D. (Jim) Hillhouse AIA ,is a registered architect in Alabama and has been registered inTexas and New Mexico. He has been certified by the National Council of Registration Boards (NCARB).

Jim Hillhouse has a forty year background in architecture, planning, construction management, project management and design/build.

While associated with the University of Alabama at Birmingham, he published articles on construction and project management, life cycle costing, and energy conservation, including "University Construction Systems, Performance Specifications" and "Construction Management Control System".

He has been active with the Tuesday Group, Habitat For Humanity, The Interfaith Tornado Recovery Group and the AIA Housing Professional Interest Area, to develop affordable housing. He also served on the Jefferson County Planning and Zoning Commission.

His specialties are retail, health care, restaurants, religious, residential and communication facilities. He has built a specialty practice in the field of renovating and providing additions to both commercial and residential buildings.

One of his latest ventures is the use of light gauge steel framing, in both commercial and residential design, resulting in more economical, faster and safer construction. Jim Hillhouse's goal is to provide his clients with facilities that are aesthetically pleasing as well as economical, well built and safe.
